In 2002 The Manchester Jewellers Network (MJN // ACJ) was formed in response to the need of a network that would support the many talented and dedicated jewellery designer makers in Greater Manchester.

The network is comprised of 16 emerging and professional jewellers who meet monthly to network, lend mutual support and organise events in Manchester that will promote the field of contemporary jewellery. Through these events MJN develop the profiles of designer makers in the region and raise awareness of handmade work currently available to commission and purchase.

In 2003 MJN became a Regional Group of the Association for Contemporary Jewellery (ACJ), confirming their commitment to promote exciting and innovative contemporary jewellery and encouraging an opportunity for designers to promote work in a broad range of material such as gold, silver, rubber, acryilic, plastic, nylon, resin and wood. The network aims to exhibit in outlets that are accessible to culturally diverse audiences and that open up new venues for the display of their work both nationally and internationally. MJN has had over a dozen successful exhibitions since its inception. The recent widely acclaimed exhibition, Architectonics, is available to view as an online exhibition, via the website, www.architectonicsjewellery.co.uk
